Who is Maura?

Maura delos Santos Vicente was born in Banna, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She moved to Hawaii with her family- her husband, 3 daughters, and son; and lived up to 98 years old in Ewa Beach, HI. She was also known as Nana (grandma) Ura to Brewpac Shakur (aka Vice). 👵🏽

Vice would spend the majority of his summers with his grandparents. One of his fondest memories of her was her vocabulary for candy. She would call anything that looked like candy “butter ball,” referring to butterscotch candy, hence the font in the butter colorway on the font. 🧈

Before heading back home, to the mainland, Maura would tie a small printed or pattern printed cloth to Vice’s Maleta (bag or luggage) to make it easier to identify it at baggage claim. This drop is dedicated to her and all the great memories she continues to carry on. 🧳
